There have been plenty of excuses why you don’t eat a good breakfast in the morning. Maybe you’re in a big rush, or maybe you’re just not a breakfast person. Either way, you should never skip the most important meal of the day! However, here are certain foods that you should avoid eating in the morning.
If you’re going to do it, then at least make them yourself. When you buy brand name breakfast bars they are often missing the important ingredients like protein and fiber.
Toast And Jam
First of all, jam is packed with sugar, this is the first thing to avoid. Secondly, if you’re have it on white bread, that’s even worse. White doesn’t provide you with nutrients your body needs. Instead try a multi-grain bread and have it with protein like peanut butter or an egg.
When you’re on the go, it’s best to settle for a simple black coffee. Try to avoid running out to the nearest coffee shop where you end up buying a coffee filled with unnecessary syrups, flavors, and other sugars.
Doughnuts often go hand in hand when you pick up a coffee to go. It makes for an awful breakfast though as it’s filled with deep fried fats, sugars, and carbs.
No Fiber Cereal
You can find plenty of cereals that are loaded with sugar and carbs but don’t have any fiber. Without fiber, you’ll just keep munching all morning.
If you thought white bread wasn’t good for you, one bagel is equivalent to about 4 slices of bread. Find a healthier alternative and avoid butter and cream cheese. Switch it up for peanut butter.
It’s not necessarily the non-fat yogurt that’s bad, it’s having it alone that doesn’t provide you with enough of the nutrients you need. Add some oatmeal or berries to it to balance it out.
Muffins are really just cakes in disguise. They have a good 800 calories and have little to no fiber. You can find healthier one around, but you really have to look!
This is a common mistake that many make. People seem to think that a glass of juice is a significant breakfast, but it really won’t get you through till lunch. If anything it’ll just accelerate your hunger.
As delicious as they may be, pancakes are not the healthiest breakfast. Even worse is when it’s loaded up with syrup and sugar.
Bacon And Sausage
These processed foods are bad because they can increase the risk of heart disease. They can be hard to resist so just be sure to eat them in moderation instead of as an entire meal.
Skipping breakfast all together is the worst thing you could possibly do. Your body needs food to get your day going. If you aren’t hungry in the morning it could be because of late night snacking the night before or having a dinner that is too big.
